About Deborah Montgomerie
I am passionate about drawing attention to the disappearing plants in our world and recently have had an orchid painting accepted into an exhibit in Singapore which is highlighting that subject. So much building goes on everywhere in the world and many plants are destroyed, often never to return. I also love studying the heirloom fruits and vegetables that many small farmers of America are growing, rekindling the understanding of the flavors of those ancient plants that came from the seeds that pioneers and other travelers brought with them to the new country. I have worked as a textile designer, a technical illustrator in the aerospace industry and a graphic designer. In 2012 my career took a turning point and I took a distance learning course with the Society of Botanical Artists in the UK. I am very proud that I am now a Fellow of the society. I also enjoy being a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Illustrators.
